Lifestyle medicine is a medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions including, but not limited to, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. This course will discuss how to incorporate the 6 pillars of Lifestyle Medicine into patient care to improve patient outcomes, reduce disease burden, prevent and possibly reduce/reverse chronic disease.
After attending this presentation, learners will be able to:
- Explain the current medical practice model and medical cost for disease management.
- Describe lifestyle medicine and define the 6-pillars.
- Discuss the evidence-based studies that show the positive results of implementing lifestyle medicine into practice.
- Discuss ways to incorporate lifestyle medicine into your own practice.
