Improving Patient Outcomes Through Pharmacogenomic Testing
Wednesday, September 16, 2026
12:00 – 1:00 PM EST

Pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing is an evolving area of precision medicine that may provide information about how genetic variation can influence medication response.  This live CME activity will review foundational concepts in pharmacogenomics and examine the clinical evidence, guidelines, and resources physicians can use when considering PGx information in patient care.

During this activity, participants will:

  • Review fundamental genetic concepts relevant to pharmacogenomic testing and interpretation.
  • Describe how genetic variation may influence drug metabolism, medication response, efficacy, and adverse-event risk.
  • Identify and use established pharmacogenomic resources, including CPIC guidelines and FDA drug-labeling information, when evaluating clinical information.
  • Examine patient cases to explore the potential clinical application of pharmacogenomic information.

Presenter:
Josiah Allen, PharmD, Pharmacogenomics Pharmacist and PGY2 Residency Program Director, St. Elizabeth Healthcare; Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, University of Minnesota
