Grand Rounds Live Webinar Series:
Value-Based Care 101: Building Foundational Literacy for Busy Clinicians
Wednesday, May 13, 2026
12:00 – 12:45 PM EST

This session will provide a foundational overview of where commonly used value-based care terms (VBC) come from and why they were created.  Over the past two decades, changes in healthcare payment and delivery reform, driven by federal policy, payor models, and health system redesign, have introduced a new set of terms into everyday clinical practice.  Many physicians see this VBC language in dashboards, contracts, and organizational discussions without formal background on their meaning or purpose.  This presentation will review ten essential VBC terms and explain their policy origins, intended goals, and relevance to clinicians. The aim is to build basic literacy by helping physicians understand the intent behind modern VBC frameworks

Courtland Keteyian, MD, MBA, MPH, Vice President, Population Health, Henry Ford Central Market
